Partial Eclipse and Meteor Shower
🌘 Cambridge will be treated to a 90% partial eclipse on Wednesday evening where the moon passes in front of the sun over the course of 2 hours. We will have a camera obscura tent where you can observe a projection of the sun on the inner canvas. Some other observing equipment will be available and Lumo housing will be handing out a limited number of eclipse glasses for people to share round. There could be as little as 1 pair per 10 visitors so we will ask people to return them after 10 minutes and unfortunately can't guarantee access. But please do join us for this rare event in the spirit of enjoying the eclipse together.🌠 Later that evening we're inviting stargazers to come and lie on the Cricket Pitch to look for meteors during the peak of the Perseids Meteor Shower. Bring something to lie on, a warm jumper, snacks and drinks. We'll bring a telescope to view the Andromeda galaxy as well.🏠 The eclipse watch is based on the lawn outside Lumo at Eddington, a new apartment and housing development and Durkan Homes will be providing some refreshments for attendees.👨👩👧👦 This is a free and open event. All ages and animals welcome.🌦️ This event is weather dependent so sign up to the mailing list below and keep an eye on emails the day before in case we have to cancel.🚗 Best place to park would be Madingley Road Park and Ride, then it's a 15 minute walk through Eddington. The PR1 bus also takes you there. The U1 and U2 buses drop you in central Eddington, then it's a 10 minute walk and the 5 and 6 buses drop you nearby on Huntingdon Road followed by a 5 minute walk.

About Eddington Astronomy & Nature Events
🔭 We run monthly astronomy nights in Eddington, Cambridge where you can use our telescope and binoculars to see the stars and the planets close up. It's free and open to all ages.
🦇 Over the summer, when the evenings are lighter, we run nature walks to observe the local bats and plant life.
